Our 2 bedroom holiday cottage located in Brandon, Suffolk is a great base for visiting Thetford Forest – just a short 15 minute walk or bike ride away, starting from the cycle path conveniently located immediately in front of the cottage.

High Lodge

Brandon Country Park

There are also lots of single tracks to explore that are unmarked so you can string your own route together – a good start point for finding some of them is Brandon Country Park rather than High Lodge.

Both High Lodge and Brandon Country Park have café’s for post ride refreshments! The country park also has a café for those that wish to enjoy a brew and sugar fix and avoid the slightly busier High Lodge area.

Santon Downham

The Little Ouse Valley between Brandon and Thetford has been designated a Forest Nature Reserve by the Forestry Commission in recognition of its importance to wildlife.

Along the valley, wetland areas of alder carr and fen, poplars, damp grazing meadows and reedbeds support a rich variety of plants, insects and birds. St Helen’s picnic site, next to the river, is a good base from which to explore.
